Biography

Matthew has just finished playing The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera - a role he performed on many occasions over the past two years at Her Majesty’s Theatre, London. He has also played the role of Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera both in the West End and on the national tour.

Matthew, originally from Sevenoaks (Kent), studied drama at the University of Hull and graduated with a BA (Hons). His professional theatre work includes Enjolras in the Scandinavian concert tour of Les Misérables, performing to audiences of up to 28,000. Recently he could be seen as Young Buddy in the Royal Festival Hall production of Stephen Sondheim's Follies and prior to that he created the leading role of Arnaud du Thil in the national tour of Martin Guerre. At the Palace Theatre he has played both Marius and Enjolras in Les Misérables. At the Haymarket Theatre, Basingstoke, Matthew appeared as Alex Dillingham in Aspects of Love and George Deever in All My Sons, which transferred to the Liverpool Playhouse.

Other theatre credits include national tours of The Rocky Horror Show and Something Wonderful, a tribute to the work of Rodgers and Hammerstein. Matthew's extensive concert work includes soloist in White Christmas and Feuilly in the Les Misérables Tenth Anniversary Concert (both Royal Albert Hall), West End - The Concert for West End International (Norway and Denmark), West End Showstoppers (Petworth Park, Sussex), and Marius in Les Misérables (Hylands Park, Chelmsford).

Television credits include Dressing for Breakfast (Channel 4) and several commercials including IBM and Vauxhall.
